# What's the Best Booking App That Doesn't Take Commission?

Description: The best booking apps that take no commission, compared honestly: Rezzy, GlossGenius, Square, Vagaro, Acuity and Mangomint, with sourced pricing.

**TL;DR:** The best booking app that doesn't take commission depends on what else you refuse to give up. Rezzy, GlossGenius, Square Appointments, Vagaro, Acuity and Mangomint all charge zero commission on bookings; of those, only Rezzy and Acuity also route payments through your own Stripe or Square account, and only Rezzy pairs that with a salon-shaped client book.

"No commission" turns out to be the easy filter. Plenty of good tools pass it. The harder filters sit behind it: who actually processes your card revenue, what your real team costs once everyone has a calendar, and whether the software does anything to keep a regular coming back.

Here are the six worth considering, compared honestly, including where each one beats the others.

## The six no-commission booking apps worth considering

| App | Price | Commission | Payments run through | Built for studios? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rezzy | $19 to $79/mo flat ([pricing](/#pricing)) | None | Your own Stripe or Square | Yes |
| GlossGenius | $28 to $168/mo ([pricing](https://glossgenius.com/pricing)) | None | GlossGenius, flat 2.6% | Yes |
| Square Appointments | Free; paid $49 to $149/mo per location ([pricing](https://squareup.com/us/en/appointments/pricing)) | None | Square | Partly |
| Vagaro | $30/mo + $10 per extra calendar ([pricing](https://www.vagaro.com/pro/pricing)) | None | Vagaro Merchant Services | Yes |
| Acuity Scheduling | $20 to $61/mo ([pricing](https://www.acuityscheduling.com/signup.php)) | None | Your own Stripe, Square or PayPal | No, general-purpose |
| Mangomint | $120/mo + $10 per user ([pricing](https://www.mangomint.com/pricing/)) | None | Mangomint Pay, own processor allowed | Yes |

*Prices and policies checked September 2026 against the linked official pages. Prices change; the links are the source of truth. Fresha, Booksy and StyleSeat are absent because each charges a marketplace fee of 20 to 30% of a new client's first visit, per their own pages. We break those down in [do booking apps take a cut of your sales](/blog/do-booking-apps-take-a-cut-of-your-sales).*

Full disclosure before we go product by product: **Rezzy is our product.** It is in the list because it passes the same tests we hold everyone else to, and every competitor claim links that company's own pricing page so you can check our work in five minutes. Where a competitor beats us, we say so in its section.

## Best for boutique studios that want to own everything: Rezzy

Rezzy is front-desk software for salons, barbershops, nail studios, spas and massage studios, and it pushes the ownership question further than anyone else here: no commission, and **payments run through your own Stripe or Square account**, so your revenue never sits in a platform's payout queue. [Deposits and prepayments](/guides/take-deposits-or-full-payment) settle directly to you.

![Rezzy's uncollected visits list, where every Collect settles into the studio's own Stripe or Square account](/blog_images/screenshots/payments-collect.png)

*Collect emails the client a secure payment link. The money lands in your account, not ours.*

The rest of the product is retention machinery: a [client book that builds itself](/#clients) from bookings into full timelines, a needs-rebooking list that flags lapsed regulars, automatic [Google review requests](/guides/ask-for-google-reviews-automatically) after visits, and email marketing on autopilot on the top plan.

Pricing is flat by team size: $19 solo, $39 with five seats included, $79 unlimited. Annual billing is cheaper still, currently $9, $15 and $19 a month billed once a year while founding spots last. There is no free trial. You pick a plan on day one and a 30-day money-back guarantee stands behind it, so a real month of clients decides it rather than a fortnight of poking around an empty calendar. [Client export](/guides/export-your-client-list) is one click on every plan.

**The honest limits:** no marketplace to send you strangers, no POS hardware, no payroll or inventory, and reminders go by email rather than text. Rezzy bets your growth comes from regulars, reviews and your own links.

## Best free plan: Square Appointments

Square's free tier is the best $0 in the category: real online booking, with Square's processing at 2.6% + 15 cents in person ([fees](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5068-what-are-square-s-fees)). The Square Go app adds free, commission-free discovery on iOS ([Square Go](https://squareup.com/us/en/appointments/square-go)).

The costs arrive later. The features studios grow into, like no-show fees and multi-staff booking, live on the paid tiers at $49 and $149 per location, and processing is locked to Square, with your money reaching the bank on Square's schedule. Paying more does cut the rate: the fee drops to 2.5% and then 2.4% in person as you move up the plans. We put the two side by side in [Rezzy vs Square Appointments](/blog/rezzy-vs-square-appointments).

## Best design and simplest processing: GlossGenius

GlossGenius charges no commission, runs no marketplace, and processes every card type at a flat 2.6% ([their rates](https://glossgenius.com/payment-processing)). The booking sites and the hardware are the prettiest in the industry, and the flat rate means you can quote a client a price without doing arithmetic about card types.

The structural catch is that GlossGenius is your processor, full stop. No bringing your own Stripe or Square, payouts on its schedule, and instant access costs another 1.8%.

> **Want the no-commission model with your own processor and a book that rebooks itself?** Rezzy is $19 a month flat, backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee. [Start today](/signup).

## Best full business suite: Vagaro

Vagaro gives you a marketplace that officially charges nothing for the clients it sends ([their FAQ](https://www.vagaro.com/pro/pricing)), plus POS hardware, inventory, memberships and payroll in one system. For a busy multi-chair shop that wants one vendor for everything, that breadth is real.

Two things to price in. The sticker is $30 a month for one calendar, discounted to $23.99 for the first six months, plus $10 for each additional calendar up to seven, after which extra staff are free. And processing runs exclusively through Vagaro Merchant Services ([their processing page](https://www.vagaro.com/pro/card-processing)), at 2.6% + 10 cents under $4,000 a month, so the merchant relationship is the platform's rather than yours.

## Best general-purpose scheduler: Acuity Scheduling

Acuity deserves real credit. No commission, no marketplace, and payments through **your own** Stripe, Square or PayPal ([their docs](https://help.acuityscheduling.com/hc/en-us/articles/16676914206477-Payment-processors-you-can-connect-to-Acuity)), which is the same money model as Rezzy.

What it lacks is studio shape: no lapsed-client detection, no automatic review requests, no salon-style client history, and text reminders only from the $34 plan up. If your business is coaching, consulting or classes, Acuity may be the right answer. For a studio it leaves the retention job on your desk.

## Best for bigger studios that want automation: Mangomint

Mangomint is a single plan at $120 a month plus $10 per user, which prices out most solos but buys polished front-desk automation, forms and memberships. Uniquely among the suites here, it documents that you can keep your own card processor alongside its built-in payments ([their payments page](https://www.mangomint.com/payments/)), although the advanced payment features need Mangomint Pay. For a seven-chair salon with a dedicated front-desk staffer, it is a serious option.

## How to actually choose between them

Run your shortlist through four questions, in this order.

- **Who processes the money?** If owning the merchant relationship matters, your list is Rezzy, Acuity, or Mangomint with your own processor. Everyone else is the processor, which means their payout schedule and their reserve policy apply to your rent money.
- **What does your real team cost?** Price your actual headcount, not the sticker. Five people is $39 flat on Rezzy, $56 on GlossGenius Gold, $70 on Vagaro once four extra calendars are added, and $170 on Mangomint.
- **Who does the rebooking work?** A booking page fills the slots people ask for. Retention features fill the ones they forgot. If the software will not flag a lapsed regular or [ask for the review](/blog/how-to-get-more-google-reviews-for-your-studio), that job stays yours forever.
- **Can you leave?** Check for self-serve client export before you import a single client. Every app in this list passes that test. The marketplace platforms are where export gets complicated.

Answer those four and "best" stops being a matter of opinion. It becomes whichever app fits your studio's four answers. For a boutique studio that wants its money direct, its book working and its bill flat, that is usually [Rezzy](/).
