# Google Business Profile for Salons: Your Second Booking Page

**TL;DR:** Your salon's Google Business Profile is a second booking page, seen by people already searching for what you do, nearby. Put your own booking link on it, match its hours to your book, pick the most specific category, add real photos of your work, and ask every client for a review.

---

It is 8:15 on a Thursday night. Someone two blocks away searches "brow lamination near me", taps your studio, and finds the wrong hours, three old photos, and no way to book. She does not send a DM. She taps the next studio on the list.

That is not a marketing problem. It is a free form from Google, half filled in. Here is the half that books clients.

## What does Google look at when it ranks a salon?

Google says local results are [mainly based on three things](https://support.google.com/business/answer/7091?hl=en): relevance, how well your profile matches the search; distance, how far you are from the searcher; and prominence, how well known you are, partly measured by your reviews. There is "no way to request or pay for a better local ranking." What helps, in Google's words: "Businesses with complete and accurate info are more likely to show up in local search results."

**The job is a complete profile, kept true, with a steady flow of reviews.**

## The fields that matter for a salon or studio

| Field | What to put | Google's rule |
|---|---|---|
| Business name | Exactly what is on your sign | No taglines, added service words, neighborhoods or phone numbers, or the profile [can be suspended](https://support.google.com/business/answer/3038177?hl=en) |
| Primary category | The most specific match | Google's [own example](https://support.google.com/business/answer/7249669?hl=en): "Nail salon", not "Salon" |
| Booking link | Your own booking page | Up to 10 booking links; you can mark one "Business preferred" ([links](https://support.google.com/business/answer/6218037?hl=en)) |
| Services | Each service, with price and a short description | Prices go in the details, never in the name ([services](https://support.google.com/business/answer/9455399?hl=en)) |
| Description | What you do and what makes you different | 750 characters at most, no links, not about promotions or prices ([editing](https://support.google.com/business/answer/3039617?hl=en)) |
| Attributes | Facts clients look for, like a wheelchair-accessible entrance | Google usually reviews an edit in about 10 minutes, sometimes up to 30 days ([attributes](https://support.google.com/business/answer/9049526?hl=en)) |

*Checked October 5, 2026 against Google Business Profile Help. Google moves its menus; the linked pages are the source of truth.*

**Change your name or category only when you mean it.** Google says either change can send you back through verification.

## How do I add a booking link to my Google Business Profile?

Google lets [health and beauty businesses add a booking button](https://support.google.com/business/answer/7249669?hl=en) to their profile. The link behind it is yours to set:

1. Sign in with the Google account linked to your profile, and open your Business Profile.
2. On Google Search, select **Booking**. In the Google Maps app, tap **Business**, then **Edit profile**, then **Booking**.
3. Select **Add link** (or **Add another link**), paste your booking page URL, and select **Save**.

Point it at the page where a client picks a service and sees real open times, not your homepage. In Rezzy that link sits under **Settings → Booking page**, next to **Copy link** ([set up your booking page](/guides/set-up-your-booking-page)). The same link belongs in [five other places](/blog/put-your-booking-link-everywhere) too.

*What the booking button on Google should open: your services, your prices, a Book button on each one.*

## Is someone else's booking button on your profile?

Check today. Google says some links "can automatically appear on your Business Profile," supplied by "third-party partners or through automated data from Google." A button you never added can point at an app you left, or never chose.

Google's booking help warns: "When you book through Google, [your provider might charge you](https://support.google.com/business/answer/7475773?hl=en)." A regular who searches your name and taps that button books on someone else's system, on someone else's terms.

To remove it, open **Booking** on your profile and select **Remove Provider**. The provider has 5 days to take the link down, and Google tells you to report a violation if it does not.

> **No booking page of your own to point Google at?** Rezzy gives you one in about ten minutes: your services, your prices, your real open times, and a link that is yours. [Take a booking today](/signup).

## What hours should your studio show on Google?

The hours clients can actually book. If Google says open until 7 and your book closes at 5, the client who drives over finds a locked door. Google gives you [three tools](https://support.google.com/business/answer/15300403?hl=en):

- **Main hours** for a normal week. Take lunch? Add two entries for the same day and Google shows the break.
- **Special hours** for holidays and short changes, closed [up to 6 days in a row](https://support.google.com/business/answer/6303076?hl=en).
- **Temporarily closed** for 7 days or more.

In Rezzy, weekly hours and date overrides live under **Settings → Availability** ([set your hours](/guides/set-your-hours)). Make it one habit: every date override you add in Rezzy, you add to Google as special hours the same day.

One caveat: Google's guidelines say businesses "that operate only by appointment" shouldn't list hours. Keep regular hours? List them. Only open when someone books? Choose **Open with no main hours**. Google then hides special hours too.

## Which photos should a studio add?

Google's [photo tips](https://support.google.com/business/answer/6123536?hl=en) ask for at least three of each type that fits a studio:

- **Exterior:** your entrance from each direction a client might arrive. In a salon suite, this photo gets a first-time client to the right door.
- **Interior:** what it is really like to stand inside.
- **At work:** the services you are known for.
- **Team:** you and anyone who works with you.

Use JPG or PNG, ideally 720 by 720 pixels, with no heavy filters. Photos show only on a verified profile, and [can take 24 to 48 hours](https://support.google.com/business/answer/6103862?hl=en) to appear. Skip the stock photo of a candle. The client is deciding whether your work looks like what she wants.

## How do Google reviews fit into the profile?

Google says "more reviews and positive ratings can help your business's local ranking," and gives you the link to ask: open your profile, select **Read Reviews**, then **Get more reviews**, then **Copy** ([review links](https://support.google.com/business/answer/16816815?hl=en)). Offering anything for a review, "like free or discounted goods or services," is "strictly prohibited." Ask everyone, the same way, for nothing. The wording is in [how to get more Google reviews](/blog/how-to-get-more-google-reviews-for-your-studio).

In Rezzy, paste that link once under **Marketing → Reviews**. When you mark a visit completed, Rezzy offers to send the ask, plus one reminder a week after the visit if the client has not clicked ([setup](/guides/ask-for-google-reviews-automatically)).

![Rezzy's review settings with a Google review link saved, and the review request and reminder emails below it](/blog_images/reviews.png)
*Paste the link from your Google profile once. Rezzy offers the ask when you mark a visit completed.*

Then reply. Google's [reply tips](https://support.google.com/business/answer/3474122?hl=en): keep it short, skip the identical thank-you, and be "conversational, not promotional."

## Are Google posts worth your time?

A little. An Update post can carry a button to "make a booking," and Google archives posts [older than 6 months](https://support.google.com/business/answer/7342169?hl=en) unless you set a date range. One post a month covers it: a photo of recent work, two sentences, a booking button.

## How do you know the profile is working?

Open **Performance** on your profile. Google shows [views, calls, website clicks, direction requests](https://support.google.com/business/answer/9918094?hl=en), and the searches people used to find you, a list it updates at the start of each month. Its booking count only covers bookings made through a booking provider; for your own link, "performance data isn't available."

So those bookings show up in your booking software. In Rezzy, **Reports** has a "Where they came from" list that names Google. It fills in slowly, because browsers often hide the source.

The most useful line on the Performance page is not a number. It is the list of searches: the words clients type when they want what you do. If they search "brow lamination" and your service is called "Brow Package B", rename it on Google and on your booking page.
