# Rezzy vs Fresha: What the Marketplace Really Costs

Source: https://letsrezzy.com/blog/rezzy-vs-fresha
Description: Rezzy vs Fresha compared for boutique studios: subscription prices, the new-client fee, who holds your money, and who owns your client list.
Updated: 2026-08-20

**TL;DR:** Rezzy vs Fresha comes down to the business model, not the feature list. Fresha charges a subscription plus a fee on marketplace-sourced new clients and processes your payments itself. Rezzy charges one flat price, takes no commission on anything, and routes every payment through your own Stripe or Square account.

---

Both tools will run your front desk competently: booking page, reminders, deposits, client records. What separates them is where the money flows and who the software ultimately works for. Fresha is a marketplace that includes software. Rezzy is software with no marketplace at all. That one difference decides almost everything below.

## What does Fresha actually cost?

Fresha built its name on being subscription-free. That era ended. The Independent plan now runs $19.95 a month for one team member, and multi-member teams pay $14.95 per member ([Fresha pricing](https://www.fresha.com/pricing)).

The subscription is only half the bill. When a new client finds you through the Fresha marketplace, Fresha charges a new-client fee of 20% of their first visit, with a $6 minimum ([Fresha's fee explainer](https://www.fresha.com/help-center/knowledge-base/billing-and-fees/188-marketplace-new-client-fees)). Your regulars and clients who book through your own links are not charged, so this is not a cut of your whole calendar. But it is a percentage of revenue on exactly the clients a growing studio wants most, and it never expires: every future stranger costs the same cut of their first ticket.

Payments add the final layer. Card payments run through Fresha Payments at 2.29% + 20 cents in person and 2.79% + 20 cents online ([rates](https://www.fresha.com/pricing)), and there is no option to plug in a processor you already have. Payments collect into your Fresha business wallet first, then pay out to your bank on a daily or weekly schedule ([how Fresha payouts work](https://www.fresha.com/help-center/knowledge-base/wallets/119-set-up-automatic-payouts)). **Your card revenue is collected by Fresha and paid out to you on Fresha's schedule.**

## What does Rezzy cost?

One flat price, chosen by team size, and nothing else. Solo is $19 a month for one person, Studio is $39 with five team seats included, and Unlimited is $79 with unlimited seats plus [email marketing on autopilot](/guides/put-your-emails-on-autopilot). There is no commission on any booking, no per-seat fee, and no percentage of anything. Every plan starts with a 30-day free trial, no card required.

Payments work the opposite way from Fresha by design. You connect your own Stripe or Square account, and [deposits, prepayments, and balance links](/guides/take-deposits-or-full-payment) settle straight into it. Rezzy never holds your money, so payout timing is between you and your processor, the same as any other charge you run.

## What a year costs, in real numbers

Abstract percentages hide the decision, so run a concrete solo studio: $65 average ticket, four marketplace-new clients a month.

| Line item | Fresha | Rezzy |
|---|---|---|
| Software, 12 months | $239.40 ($19.95 x 12) | $228 ($19 x 12) |
| New-client fees, 12 months | $624 (20% of $65, 4 a month) | $0 |
| Card processing | Fresha's rates, via the Fresha wallet | Your own Stripe or Square rates, direct |
| Year total before processing | ~$863 | $228 |

Now the honest reading of that table, in both directions. Those 48 marketplace clients cost about $13 each, which is genuinely cheap customer acquisition **if they are clients you would not have reached anyway**. If your chair fills from Instagram, referrals, and Google, the same $624 bought you traffic you already owned. The math flips entirely on one question: where do your new clients actually come from? Count last quarter's before you decide, rather than making a hopeful guess.

There is also a compounding term the table cannot show. Every marketplace client rebooks inside an app that displays your competitors, while every direct client rebooks on a page that shows only you. If you are weighing more than two platforms, [every fee model, named](/blog/do-booking-apps-take-a-cut-of-your-sales) puts all eight side by side.

## Who owns the client relationship?

This is the quiet difference that matters more each year you operate.

On Fresha, marketplace clients hold Fresha accounts, the booking flow invites them to opt in to marketing from the partner and from Fresha, and the same marketplace that sends you a stranger also shows that stranger every other studio nearby at rebooking time. Credit where it is due: **Fresha lets you export your client list yourself as a CSV** ([their export guide](https://www.fresha.com/help-center/knowledge-base/clients/58-export-your-client-list)), which is better than several competitors manage.

On Rezzy there is no marketplace to share your book with. Client records build themselves from bookings into a full timeline of visits, notes, and emails, a lapsed regular shows up on your [needs-rebooking list](/guides/rebook-lapsed-clients) automatically, and the whole book exports in [one click on any plan](/guides/export-your-client-list). Your clients are never marketed to and never shown a competitor, because there is nobody to show them.

## What Fresha does better

An honest comparison has to give Fresha its wins, and they are real.

- **Marketplace discovery.** Fresha's consumer marketplace can hand a brand-new studio its first strangers. Rezzy has no marketplace and will not do this; your growth runs on your own links, referrals, and reviews.
- **Hardware and retail.** Fresha sells card terminals and handles product inventory and point of sale. Rezzy has no POS hardware; in-person card payments are your processor's business, not Rezzy's.
- **Breadth.** Fresha is a large, mature product with years of marketplace features Rezzy does not try to match.

If you are opening your doors this month with no following, that discovery engine has genuine value, and the 20% first-visit fee can be a fair customer-acquisition cost while you build a book.

## What Rezzy does better

- **The money path.** Payments through your own Stripe or Square, with Rezzy never holding a dollar. This is the rarest feature among studio platforms, and it is the whole point.
- **Zero commission, forever.** A flat price you can plan around, whatever your ticket size and however you grow.
- **Retention machinery.** A [client timeline that builds itself](/#clients), automatic Google-review requests after each visit, rebooking nudges for lapsed regulars, and standing appointments booked in one pass.
- **Team pricing.** Studio includes five seats flat. Fresha's team pricing is per member, so the same five-person team pays per head.

## Which one should you pick?

Pick by where your next ten clients come from. **If most of them will be strangers a marketplace finds for you, Fresha is the rational choice** and the new-client fee is your marketing budget. **If most of them are regulars, referrals, and people clicking the link in your Instagram bio, you are paying marketplace prices for traffic you generated**, and a flat-price tool that stays out of your money keeps more of every month.

Switching is a small job if you do it in order: export your CSV from Fresha, [import it into Rezzy](/guides/import-your-client-list) with column mapping and a seven-day undo, connect your Stripe or Square, test-book yourself once, then repoint your Instagram and Google Business Profile links. Studios like [salons](/solutions/salons) and [day spas](/solutions/spas-and-massage) typically finish inside an afternoon, and every booking after that pays out at 100%.
