# Rezzy vs Setmore: A Calendar Is Not a Front Desk

Source: https://letsrezzy.com/blog/rezzy-vs-setmore
Description: Rezzy vs Setmore, honestly: Setmore costs less every month and we will show you the math. Here is the work a front desk does that a scheduler never tries.
Updated: 2026-09-15

**TL;DR:** Rezzy vs Setmore is not a price fight, and Setmore wins the one there is: Setmore Pro runs $5 per user per month on annual billing, against $19 for Rezzy Solo. Setmore schedules time for anyone with a calendar; Rezzy runs the front desk of a boutique studio, and those are two different jobs.

---

Setmore will book your Tuesday at 2pm, and on its free plan it will do that for nothing. What it will not do is tell you that Dana used to come every four weeks and has not been in since June. That gap, between booking time and running a book, is the entire comparison. The price part is simple, so let's clear it first.

## Setmore is cheaper, and that is not close

A solo operator on Setmore Pro pays $5 a month on annual billing, or $12 month to month. The same operator on Rezzy Solo pays $19. Setmore is the cheaper tool by a factor of nearly four, its free plan really is free for up to four users, and no amount of feature talk changes that arithmetic.

Two honest footnotes on the free plan, both from Setmore's own pricing page. **Free excludes deposits, SMS reminders, two-way calendar sync, and removing Setmore's branding from your booking page.** So if you want a client to put money down before a two-hour balayage, or you want your booking page to carry only your name, you are on Pro. The real comparison for a working studio is Setmore Pro against Rezzy, not Setmore Free against anything.

The second footnote matters more than most comparison posts admit: **Setmore takes no commission and no transaction fee, and it connects the payment account you already own.** Square, Stripe, PayPal, LawPay. Money goes where your money already goes. That is the same money path Rezzy uses, and it is the argument we make against marketplace platforms like Fresha and Booksy. It does not work here. Setmore is on the right side of that line, and pretending otherwise would be a lie you could check in four minutes.

## What Setmore genuinely gets right

- **A free tier that is actually usable.** Four users, unlimited appointments, a booking page, email confirmations and reminders, iOS and Android apps. Most "free" plans in this market cap your bookings or expire. This one does not.
- **SMS reminders on Pro.** Rezzy does not send text reminders today. If a text is how your clients answer, that is a real point for Setmore and you should weigh it.
- **A wide integration list.** Setmore is built to sit inside somebody else's stack, and it does that well.
- **Price honesty.** No commission, no per-booking fee, no promotional rate that resets in month seven, no marketplace showing your regulars a competitor two blocks over.

If you are a one-person operation whose only problem is that people text you asking for times, Setmore Free solves your problem today for $0. That is the right answer, and you can stop reading.

## Where a scheduler stops and a front desk starts

Everything above is about booking time. A studio's money is not in booking time. It is in the client who comes back nine times a year instead of four.

Setmore stores a client's contact details and their appointment history, which is what a general-purpose scheduler needs. A tutor does not need to know that a client is allergic to eucalyptus oil. You do. **Rezzy's [client book builds itself out of the bookings you already take](/#clients)**: every visit, every note, every email sent, every follow-up you owe, on one page, without anybody typing it in at 9pm.

![A client page in Rezzy showing Maya Chen's upcoming facial and massage, the reminder Rezzy sent, and a note about firm pressure and a eucalyptus allergy](/blog_images/spa-client-timeline.png)

*Eight bookings, two upcoming, and the note that makes the ninth visit feel personal. Nobody typed the timeline.*

That record then does work while you are with a client.

- The [needs-rebooking list](/guides/rebook-lapsed-clients) shows every regular whose last completed visit is older than your rebooking window with nothing on the books. That is your quiet-week fix, written for you.
- [Autopilot emails](/guides/put-your-emails-on-autopilot) fire off real events: a first visit, a birthday, a client passing the rebooking window, a no-show handled gracefully. Six are written and waiting, all switched off until you say so.
- [Google review requests](/guides/ask-for-google-reviews-automatically) go out the day after a completed visit, with one nudge a week later if they never opened the first. Setmore Pro sends review requests too, so call this one a draw on the feature and a difference in how much of your book it is wired into.
- Reports tell you what actually happened last month: revenue, rebooking, where bookings came from. Not a calendar you have to read backwards.

> **Want the front desk, not just the calendar?** Rezzy gives you a booking page, a client book that fills itself, and rebooking nudges that catch regulars before they drift. [Start free](/signup).

## Deposits: same money path, different plan

Both tools put deposits behind a paid plan, so compare like with like. On Setmore, deposits arrive with Pro. On Rezzy, [deposits, prepayments, and card-on-file](/guides/take-deposits-or-full-payment) are on every plan, including Solo, and they run through the Stripe or Square account you own. Rezzy never holds the money and takes no cut of it. So does Setmore Pro, through your own processor.

On Rezzy a deposit lives on the service, set once. Every booking of that service asks for it automatically.

![A service in Rezzy with its duration, price, and a deposit set as booking protection](/blog_images/service-deposit-settings.png)

*Set the amount on the service and you are done. The booking page collects it before the slot is confirmed.*

The difference is what surrounds the charge. In Rezzy a deposit is attached to a client whose whole history sits under it, so a late cancellation is not an isolated event, it is the third one this year on a client you can see. That context is the product.

## What the extra $14 a month buys

Here is the twelve-month picture for one operator, both on annual billing, with nothing hidden.

| Line item | Setmore Pro, one user | Rezzy Solo |
|---|---|---|
| Software, 12 months | $60 ($5 x 12) | $228 ($19 x 12) |
| Commission | $0 | $0 |
| Card processing | Your own processor's rates | Your own processor's rates |
| Deposits included | Yes | Yes |
| Year total | $60 | $228 |

Rezzy costs $168 more a year. That is $14 a month, and it is the honest number to argue about. For most studios one $150 color service or two $80 facials covers the entire annual difference, so the question is not whether you can afford $14. It is whether a client book that works your regulars puts one or two visits back on the calendar that a plain scheduler would have let go quietly.

![Rezzy's needs-rebooking list flagging regulars whose last visit is past the rebooking window, with nothing booked](/blog_images/needs-rebooking.png)

*The screen the $14 pays for: who is overdue, by how long, with a Book button next to each name. One name on this list covers the year's difference.*

Your own last quarter answers that better than we can: count how many clients you have not seen since spring and would happily have back.

## Which one should you pick?

**Pick Setmore if your job is booking time.** You are one person, or a team of up to four, and the thing costing you hours is the back-and-forth over available slots. Setmore Free ends that today for nothing, Pro adds SMS reminders and deposits for $5 a user, and the company takes no cut of your work. That is a genuinely good deal and there is no shame in taking it.

**Pick Rezzy if your job is keeping a book full.** Your revenue lives in repeat visits, your growth is regulars and referrals, and the expensive problem is not the empty slot on Tuesday, it is the four regulars who stopped coming and never said why. That is the shape [barbershops](/solutions/barbershops) and boutique studios take, and it is the only shape Rezzy is built for.

One practical note if you switch either direction: export your client list first, before you cancel anything. Rezzy exports the whole book, history included, in one click on any plan, because a list you cannot take with you was never really yours.
