# Rezzy vs Timely: What a Salon Suite Costs

**TL;DR:** Rezzy vs Timely comes down to headcount. Timely charges per bookable staff member, $26 to $47 a month for the first and $24 to $36 for each one after, and keeps review requests and rebooking messages on its upper plans; Rezzy charges one flat price for the studio, $19, $39 or $79, with review requests and deposits on every plan.

---

Timely's pricing page opens with a question: how many bookable staff? Move the counter and every plan reprices. The FAQ adds the detail most comparisons skip: "Part-time staff members are currently charged at the same rate as full-time staff members." The stylist who works Saturdays costs what the one who works six days costs.

## How does Timely price per staff member?

Timely has three US plans, and each one's price depends on how many bookable staff you have. The first person costs the most, and each one after costs a little less:

| Timely plan | First bookable staff | Each one after | Texts included, per staff |
|---|---|---|---|
| Build | $26/mo | $24/mo | 100 |
| Elevate | $39/mo | $29/mo | 200 |
| Innovate | $47/mo | $36/mo | 350 |

The same calculator shows three edges. Build is offered only up to seven staff. From 8 to 19 staff, Elevate holds at a flat $241 a month and Innovate at $300. At 20, the price is replaced by a button to book a call for a custom quote.

A few terms ride along. Texts past your allowance cost 5 cents each, and targeted SMS campaigns are billed outside the allowance. Admin logins for people who never take bookings are included. And for US owners, Timely's [billing help article](https://help.gettimely.com/hc/en-gb/articles/1500002361721-How-to-understand-charges-on-your-Timely-account-bill) says its bank account is in New Zealand, so some cards add a foreign transaction fee to the subscription.

## What a month costs at one, three, five and eight people

Timely's figures are the monthly totals its own calculator shows. Rezzy's are the monthly plan prices.

| Bookable staff | Timely Build | Timely Elevate | Timely Innovate | Rezzy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $26 | $39 | $47 | $19 (Solo) |
| 3 | $74 | $97 | $119 | $39 (Studio) |
| 5 | $122 | $155 | $191 | $39 (Studio) |
| 8 | Not offered | $241 | $300 | $79 (Unlimited) |

At one person the gap is $7 a month, and nobody should switch software over $7. **The gap opens with every hire. On Timely, every hire up to your eighth changes the price. On Rezzy, the price changes twice: at your second person and at your sixth.** A part-timer who joins a three-person studio adds $24 to $36 a month on Timely and nothing on Rezzy's Studio plan.

One honest catch in our own column. Rezzy counts everyone with a login, owner included, while Timely counts only bookable staff. An owner who manages five stylists and never takes a booking is five on Timely and six on Rezzy, which puts her on Unlimited at $79. Annual billing lowers Rezzy further: $9, $15 and $19 a month at the founding price for the first 30 studios, then $190, $390 and $790 a year.

*Three logins on the Studio plan, owner included. The fourth and fifth cost nothing more, part-time or not.*

## Which Timely plan keeps clients coming back?

Price per head is half the story. The other half is which plan carries the tools that bring clients back, per Timely's own comparison table:

- **Review requests** and thank-you messages start on Elevate.
- **Rebooking reminders and reconnect messages** are Innovate only.
- **A dedicated number for two-way texting** is Innovate only.

So a three-person studio that wants lapsed clients nudged back automatically is on Innovate, at $119 a month. On Rezzy, [Google review requests](/guides/ask-for-google-reviews-automatically) go out the day after a completed visit, on your one-tap yes, on every plan. The [needs-rebooking list](/guides/rebook-lapsed-clients) shows every client past your rebooking window with nothing booked, also on every plan. Automatic "we miss you" emails come with Unlimited, at a flat $79 for any team size.

The fair caveat: Timely's messages can go by text, and Rezzy's go by email. If your clients only answer texts, weigh that before the price.

> **Want the retention tools without a per-head bill?** Rezzy runs booking, reminders, deposits, review requests and a client book that builds itself, at one flat price for the studio. [Take a booking today](/signup).

## Where does a client's deposit go?

Timely partnered with Stripe for TimelyPay, its built-in processor, but the [TimelyPay FAQ](https://help.gettimely.com/hc/en-gb/articles/1500002149982-Frequently-asked-questions-FAQs-TimelyPay) says a standard Stripe account you already own cannot connect to it; you open a new one through Timely. US rates are 2.29% + 30¢ in person, on Tap to Pay or a Timely terminal you buy, and 2.80% + 30¢ online.

You can bring another gateway, Stripe among them, but Timely's [gateway article](https://help.gettimely.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360062952833-How-to-set-up-your-payment-gateway) puts that on Elevate and Innovate only. Build runs on TimelyPay. Saving a client's card at booking, the step behind cancellation fees, is a TimelyPay feature ([deposits help](https://help.gettimely.com/hc/en-gb/articles/1500002506122-How-to-set-up-online-deposits)).

Rezzy connects the Stripe or Square account you own, on every plan, Solo included. [Deposits, full prepayment and card on file](/guides/take-deposits-or-full-payment) are set per service and settle to your account on your processor's schedule. Rezzy never holds the money and takes no cut.

To be straight about rates: TimelyPay's 2.80% online is a little below Stripe's standard 2.9% + 30¢ ([Stripe pricing](https://stripe.com/pricing)). On a $100 deposit, that is 10 cents. The dime buys a merchant account in your own name, saved cards included, that stays put if you change software.

## What Timely does better

- **Texts on every plan.** 100 to 350 included per staff member each month, on top of email. Rezzy sends no text reminders today.
- **The salon counter.** Card terminals and Tap to Pay, stock management, gift vouchers, packages and multiple locations, all on Build. Rezzy has no hardware, no inventory and no gift cards.
- **More tools up the ladder.** A waitlist, client photos, loyalty rewards and promo codes arrive on Elevate.
- **A trial before you pay.** Fourteen days free, no card. Rezzy has no trial; a 30-day money-back guarantee stands in for one.
- **No commission.** Timely shows no new-client fees on any plan. Rezzy takes the same position, so call it a draw.

## What Rezzy does better

- **A price that ignores headcount inside a plan.** Studio is $39 whether it holds two people or five, part-timers included.
- **Retention on every plan.** Review requests, the needs-rebooking list, standing appointments and a client timeline that fills itself from bookings. No tier to climb.
- **Your client list, on demand.** Export the whole book as a CSV from the Clients page in one click, on any plan, paused or canceled included. Timely's full [data export](https://help.gettimely.com/hc/en-gb/articles/20753162121239-How-to-request-and-access-your-Timely-data-export) is a support request that can take up to 48 hours.

## Which one should you pick?

**Pick Timely if you run a salon with a counter.** Retail on the shelves, card terminals at the desk, more than one location, clients who answer texts, and stylists whose takings make $24 to $36 a head a small line. Timely writes every plan for hair and beauty professionals, and that salon is the one it serves best.

**Pick Rezzy if you are one to five people and the book is the business.** Your growth is regulars and referrals, you want review requests and rebooking without climbing a tier, and you want the money in your own Stripe or Square. That is the shape [salons](/solutions/salons) of two or three chairs tend to take, and the shape Rezzy is built for.

Leaving Timely? Request the full data export first. Timely's [cancellation article](https://help.gettimely.com/hc/en-gb/articles/29237673095319-How-to-cancel-your-Timely-account) says you cannot log in to export anything once you cancel. Then bring the file in with Rezzy's [client import](/guides/import-your-client-list). Our guide to [switching booking apps without losing your client list](/blog/how-to-switch-booking-apps-without-losing-your-client-list) walks through the order.
