# Email a client

Description: Send one client a message from their page in Rezzy. It lands on their timeline, so the next person at the desk knows it was sent.

Sometimes you need to say one thing to one person. Their patch test is due, their colour arrived, you are running twenty minutes late on Saturday.

You can do that from Rezzy instead of your phone, and the difference is that Rezzy remembers.

## Send it

1. Open the client in **Clients**.
2. Choose **Actions ▾ → Send email**.
3. Write a subject and a message, then **Send email**. Rezzy asks you to confirm the address first.

The email goes out from your studio's name, and replies come back to the owner's inbox. Every message carries an unsubscribe link, because the law requires one and because a client who wants out should not have to ask twice.

## Why not just text them

Do text them, if that is your relationship. The reason to send it here is the timeline.

The message lands on the client's timeline next to their bookings, their notes, and their follow-ups. When your front desk opens that client next week, they can see the email went out. Nothing sits trapped in one person's phone.

See [Add a client and keep notes](/guides/add-a-client-and-keep-notes).

## Consent

If a client has not agreed to marketing email, the send box is replaced by a note saying so.

That is deliberate. Rezzy will not let you email a client who never said yes, even one at a time, even for a good reason. Ask them, then turn consent on in their profile.

Booking confirmations, reminders, and cancellations are different: those are transactional and always send, because a client who booked an appointment needs to know about it. See [How marketing consent works](/guides/how-marketing-consent-works).

## When you want to reach more than one person

One client at a time is this. For everyone due back, or everyone away six months, use a campaign instead: same idea, one send, the audience picked for you.

See [Send a campaign](/guides/send-a-campaign), or put it on autopilot with [drip emails](/guides/put-your-emails-on-autopilot).

## Who can send

Members can send these, not just owners. Client communication is front-desk work, and the person who picked up the phone is usually the person who should follow up.
