What one regular is actually worth
Studios price the appointment and forget the relationship. Put in what a regular spends and how often they come, and see the figure you are really protecting.
How this is worked out
- Lifetime value is spend per visit, times visits a year, times the years they stay. Nothing is discounted for the fact that money later is worth less than money now, which keeps the sum readable.
- Add-ons and retail count if you include them in the visit figure. Most owners forget the $20 of product a regular buys twice a year.
- The churn figure assumes each lost regular would have completed a full relationship. Some were leaving anyway, so treat it as the ceiling on what churn costs.
- Three years is a reasonable default for salon and barber work. Lash and nail cycles are shorter and faster; massage and spa are often longer.
